AGENT ORANGE

Where Surf Rock Collides With Punk

Live at Pershing Hall – Friday, September 18, 2026

Agent Orange

Before surf punk had a name, Agent Orange was already defining it.

Formed in Southern California in 1979, the band took the reverb-heavy guitar sound of classic surf music and collided it with the speed, attitude and raw energy of punk rock. The result was a sound that would help shape generations of punk, skate and alternative music.

Now, Agent Orange brings that unmistakable sound to Pershing Hall in Austin for a night built to be played loud.

PIONEERS OF SURF PUNK

At the center of Agent Orange is guitarist and vocalist Mike Palm, the band’s founder and constant creative force.

The band’s early breakthrough came with Bloodstains,” a fast, frantic introduction to a group that sounded unlike much else coming out of the Southern California punk scene.

Then came Living in Darkness.

Released in 1981, Agent Orange’s debut album became a cornerstone of the emerging surf-punk and skate-punk sound. Songs like “Everything Turns Grey, Bloodstains” and the title track paired dark, restless songwriting with Palms sharp guitar work and the unmistakable influence of vintage surf music.

It was punk—but with a wave of something different underneath it.

BUILT FOR THE SKATE-PUNK GENERATION

Agent Orange’s relationship with skate culture only strengthened the band’s legacy.

The speed, aggression and momentum of the music made it a natural soundtrack for skating, while tracks like “Bloodstains” would eventually introduce Agent Orange to new generations through skateboarding culture and video games.

More than four decades after the band formed, that combination still feels immediate.

Fast guitars. Heavy reverb. No wasted time.
