JACKOPIERCE
37 Years, Two Voices and One Hell of a Following
Live at Pershing Hall – Wednesday, December 9, 2026
You don’t build a career spanning nearly four decades by accident.
For Jack O’Neill and Cary Pierce, the two musicians behind Jackopierce, it started simply enough: two theater students at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, two acoustic guitars and a knack for harmonies.
Thirty-seven years later, they’re still here.
And on Wednesday, December 9, Jackopierce returns to Austin for an intimate night at Pershing Hall.
FROM DALLAS TO EVERYWHERE
Jackopierce formed in Dallas in 1988 and quickly developed the kind of grassroots following that existed before algorithms, viral clips and social media could manufacture one for you.
They did it the old-fashioned way.
They toured.
And toured.
And toured some more.
Their acoustic-driven folk-rock and tightly locked vocal harmonies connected especially strongly with the college music scene of the ’90s, turning songs like “Vineyard” and “Late Shift” into fan favorites.
Over the years, Jackopierce has released ten studio albums, toured across three continents, nine countries and 48 states, and shared stages with artists including Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Counting Crows, Sheryl Crow, Matchbox Twenty and Toad the Wet Sprocket.
Not bad for two theater students with guitars.
THE HARMONIES THAT BUILT A CAREER
Plenty has changed since Jackopierce started playing together in 1988.
Their foundation hasn’t.
The appeal still comes back to songwriting, acoustic guitars and the chemistry between O’Neill and Pierce’s voices.
Those harmonies helped the duo develop an audience that stayed with them through major-label releases, independent projects, a five-year hiatus and an eventual reunion in 2002.
More than twenty years after that reunion, Jackopierce is still writing, recording and finding new reasons to get back onstage.
Recent releases prove they’re not interested in becoming their own tribute act.
The catalog matters.
So does what comes next.
A BAND BUILT FOR AN INTIMATE ROOM
Jackopierce has spent years creating what they call “Destination Shows”—concert experiences designed around bringing audiences closer to the music and to one another.
That philosophy makes Pershing Hall a particularly fitting place to see them.
This isn’t music that needs an arena between the artists and the audience.
It works best when you can hear the harmonies clearly, catch the stories between songs and realize half the room already knows every word.
JACKOPIERCE LIVE AT PERSHING HALL IN AUSTIN
On Wednesday, December 9, Jackopierce brings more than three decades of songs, stories and harmonies to Pershing Hall.
For longtime fans, it’s another chapter in a relationship that may have started decades ago.
For everyone else, it’s a chance to understand why this particular duo never really went away.
Thirty-seven years in.
Still playing.
Still writing.
Still worth listening to.
